Join us for our first Western PA Hang!

Location: Racoon Creek State Park,
Sioux B rustic Campground
Directions: Turn from US-18 onto Cabin road. Drive past the Park Office. Continue on Cabin road until you reach Nichol road, which is a right turn onto gravel. Follow the sign to Sioux, drive until you reach the outhouse parking lot. Park on the right side for Sioux B. To find the exact location on Google Maps, search for: “Sioux Campground, Hookstown, PA”
Nearby Points of Interest: The park is located approximately an hour from Pittsburgh PA, Youngstown Ohio, and Cabelas in WV.
Park Website: Racoon Creek State Park
Hang start/end time: 3PM
Signup Here: Google Drive Link
Services at the site: There is potable water and a fairly nice vault toilet at the site.
Cellular Coverage: Dubious at best
Maximum Attendance: We are permitted up to 60 people on the site.
Cost to Attend: Donate a couple bucks to help cover the cost of the site if you both want to and can afford to. I would rather have your stories than your money, so if funds are tight, just show up and hang out! If we somehow have more cash from the hang than it cost, We will just use it towards hosting the next one.
Parking: There is parking for a handful of cars at the site. If we need overflow parking, we can park at the nearby Palamino parking lot, or at the park office. I suggest being prepared to leave contact info with your vehicle just in case we end up parking anyone in, but let’s try not to do that unless necessary.
Hammock Stands: There are plenty of trees, but a stand might allow for a little more flexibility, or for watching the stars if we have a clear night. Bring one if you like.
Food: Bring what you need, keep it locked up securely in your car when not in use.
Area Services: The closest restaurants are on US-30. The best BBQ in the area is at Bowsers, in Monaca. It’s about a half hour drive from the park.
Please abide by all park rules and regulations, and keep a clean camp. There are definitely bears in this park, so keeping food and toiletries in the car is probably a good idea.
