In any case, I am definitely going to go with 2Q's zipper mod. I've heard so many good things about it from many different people.
Well, at least briefly, REI had the HH Expedition with a zipper. Looks like it's a done deal now though.

I'm thinking Hennessy did a limited run of them for sale only at REI as a kind of market test to see how they sold.

I checked HH website and they are offering many of the existing models with a zipper option now. It looks like you get either a zipper side or the original velcro bottom entry. You order one or the other. Not both. They are also the same price.

REI.com says they can be backordered, so the co-op is expecting to get more.

I wonder if Brandon at WB or 2Q & ZQ are looking into patent infringements...

I saw one of the new HH with a stock zipper yesterday. The zipper is HUGE. It looks like a railroad track running down the side of the zipper with surf boards for zipper pulls. Needless to say, I'm even more happy now with my 2QZQ zipper mod.

I'd buy a regular HH and have 2QZQ do a MOD4 if I was going to go with another HH. I love my Exped with the MOD4 ... sweet.

I've had my Exped Zip for a week now (3 nights hanging), and am very happy with it. The zipper extends the full length of the hammock, and while large, it seems very robust and is very smooth. You can unzip and hang the mesh over the ridge line for open air lounging.

Not on this end....what we do is not patented. We offer a service to the hammock community. Not interested in the expense of a patent, nor the expense in defending it.

If folks want to purchase the Hennessy zip hammocks, no problem with us. I know where the idea came from and where the better quality lies. ZQ's fingers behind the Bernina is all we offer and when our service is no longer needed......we get to go camping more often!

My gut says "support the local community people" though. They do great work from all I've heard!
I wonder when we will start modding the Hennessy zip model?? Hmmm.... I think I have one coming.

+1 on this for a fact. I wish everything I bought was at even a "close to" ZQ's quality level!

I am looking at 2QZQ modding my new HH Expedition for me (Mod #2, I think), as well as the Camo Hex Fly that just came in today with a beak (doors)! I need to use/try it in a week, and also at the Vermont Hang on July 9 - 11, but after that I think I will be ready to upgrade the functionality - AND I can give them the lead time they need!

    This place ROCKS!!!

I will see if I can get some 'before' pics up at my hike-in fly fishing trip in a week - gonna be fun! Might do a little day hike of the AT then, too. Mostly fishin' though!
