If rain is forecast, but not too windy where I camp, I pitch Dutch’s bonded winter tarp. Two interior pole mods help spread out 12x11&half foot tarp into a large almost flat canopy. This makes a large dry footprint.
Again, if not too windy, I put a poncho over each end of hammock ridgeline. All poncho snaps closest to trees are snapped closed. One snap closest to middle of hammock is snapped on lower edge.
The ponchos look like an upside down letter envelope on each end of hammock.

When possible, I tie tarp guylines to nearby trees.
Drip lines are on tarp and hammock suspensions.

If I’m really worried about a hard windy rain, I can set tarp ridgeline closer than usual to hammock ridgeline

If windy and rainy, I attempt to close both end doors of tarp. Sometimes my setup looks less than strack, but it keeps me high and dry—so far!

Rain, mist, condensation, respiration, and moisture leaving my skin can all contribute to quilts getting damp. No hammock, tarp&quilts can avoid all dampness. We do asbestos we can.
On a multi day camp, I try to air out quilts during daylight. And always air dry my quilts before storing them at home.

Good luck☔️
