Any Tips for Preventing Mold on Your Hammock and Gear in Storage?

Don't store it in the basement again or maybe get a dehumidifier? That's all I got. Our basement is not very humid but I lost a lot of stuff to mold recently that had been in storage for a few years and I'm sure that I'm not alone. Thanks in advance for any tips!

    Why not both ...

as a fabric item, maybe store where you wouldn't want fabric (e.g., clothes) to get moldy, mildewy, or musty. How about a bedroom closet, on a shelf or down on the floor in a shoe rack?

Store in a dry place, and always lay gear out to dry after each camping trip, before storing.
I’m far from perfect, in following my own advice, just doing asbestos I can.

Central air or a window air conditioner will lower the moisture/humidity in your home or room.

Other solution are those moisture absorber packets . They work to a certain extent but aren’t 100%.

Also store loose in a pillowcase, and if if gets a mildew smell, wash with mirazyme.

Make sure it is absolutely dry and clean (as practical) before storage. Same goes for hammock/tent/tarp/rainfly/backpack.
In order to see what few have seen, you must go where few have gone. And DO what few have done.

Thanks... looking at some moisture absorber packets I like that idea for a few things.

Clown Pusher - sailors have to deal with mold potential all the time. Check out a Marine supply store or Google to find a variety of solutions.

I try to air my stuff out in the sun before storing, if at all possible. Have never actually washed my hammock but sun-drying seems to get rid of any lingering dampness/funkiness. Same goes for tarp and sleep stuff (which I try to wash very infrequently).
