    Panthertown Help

I've had Panthertown in my sights for a while, but never managed to get there. I think it is time. I have the Kornegay map, I can't find a lot of other info. Any suggestions for a 3 night trip in November? I'm happy to switch camp each night or setup a base camp and dayhike each day. I like waterfalls and views, who doesn't

    So any suggestions?

The valley is not huge, so a basecamp with day hikes is a good option.
Some highlights are Schoolhouse Falls plus Little Green Mountain hike, Big Green mt plus the Great Wall, and exploring the Tuckaseegee gorge area.

I believe bear vaults are now required when overnighting there now

    Thanks for those suggestions

I was planning on a bear can, I find it is a lot easier than hanging a bear bag.

They are, but that did not stop these dum dums from doing this…

How are you with a map? (Edit: just clicked through your very inspiring site… I sense you will be fine navigating). The numbered trails on the K map just about all have signs at trailheads and intersections, but the footpaths are very handy if you can navigate them. I had a buddy download the offline maps from AllTrails so he’d have a backup if we got separated and most of the footpaths are on there. Keep in mind the small dot footpaths are pretty bushwacky.

There are **many campsites off the main trails. You could totally base camp because it’s not that big, but you could also just walk until you found something. 3 nights I think you should set as goal every overlook and most waterfalls on the K map. Very doable.

Feel free to dm me. I was just there and I’d go back with you lol

Thanks for the info, the map shows a lot of waterfalls, but I like having goals
