NC - Uwharrie Forest Impromptu Friday Hang 10/21

Looking to get out for a single overnight to test some winter gear. Forecast calls for mid 60s Friday and low of 37 overnight. Will likely go in off Yates or Jumping Off Rock to one of the creek sites. Fell free to comment below or PM for more details.

Seventeen pounds, not including a to-go double burger for evening snack.
    Happy Face!

Thank you Twistytee, for leading a great backpacking hang. Our campsite was picturesque (sorry no pictures)
Our small campfire gave warmth in rapidly cooling night air. My 20* quilts were perfect.
I was “that guy” again, getting packed last. But Twistytee said I’m improving.
All this was negated by my long winded talking on trail, frequent rest stops. And shouting out to other campers.
We crossed paths with Kyle, Mike, Jake, and their loyal dog on Uwharrie Trail. And at trailhead met Charles who was catching up with aforementioned foursome.

We hiked about three and a half miles south on Uwharrie Trail from Jumping Off Rock Trailhead.
And camped at a creek. Water levels were low, still plenty 4muh coffee

Thanks for joining me Phantom. Always nice to have company. You left out the piece about seeing some bones left by Bigfoot and also the train of ten headlamp hikers that passed through our camp at 5:15am. Skies were crystal clear so we cowboy camped without tarps. Temps stayed reasonably warm in the 32-35 degree range over night. I should have slept with my fuel canister at my feet which unfortunately left my stove a little slow at coffee hour. I did manage to take one pic at camp of Phantom stoking our fire to keep the coyotes away.
