Hey y’all. My name is Joshua. My wife calls me “SpiderStick” on the trail. I’m glad to be here.
I have napped and swung in hammocks in my backyard for years, but only this year have I found time to sleep overnight under some trees that aren’t mine.
I also discovered that my wife also enjoys sleeping in a hammock. Thank ya Jesus.

I found out there was a big convention in my state (of all places!) called HangCon and I’m hopefully taking myself and a couple family members for a relaxing weekend.

My mostly-not-super-fancy Florida setup:
-Dutchware 12 footer (I am not super tall but it was on sale, and man is it comfy!)
-DW bottom entry bugnet
-Beetle buckles and straps with dutch clips, continuous loops
-Wise Owl Ember underquilt ($25 on sale at amazon)
-Warbonnet Superfly (found used at play it again sports, mislabeled as a hammock for $17.99)

Other stuff for family members to hang with me:
-Eno atlas straps, carabiners, continuous loops
-Dutchware Spreader bar 32-inch
-Costco hammock 9.5’ (I added a ridgeline)
-Yukon Outfitters No-Fly Zone zipper bugnet
-Another Wise Owl Ember
-Two other random cheapo Amazon 9-footers.

Wishlist
-DW Bird’s Nest Bugnet (for holding hands with my wife)
-A couple Jacks R Better Hudson River quilts with couple mods
-Better tarp skills

I don’t know if it’s important to list all of this stuff, but maybe someone else just starting out (mostly like i am), or maybe other folks living in Mosquito Soup territory can read it and share info both ways.

Here’s to wool socks and spider sticks!
