    Dynaglide vs Amsteel for Suspension?

So been looking at making my suspension for part of my full DIY hammock setup and was wondering between Dynaglide and Amsteel which is the preferred (for whoopie slings, continuous loops, etc)? I know Dynaglide is lighter but Amsteel is definitely stronger (at least from my research). Interested to hear what y'all have to say.

Depends on your much you weigh, and how often you want to replace your suspension. Under 200# dynaglide works fine, over that and you could have issues. I got one season out of dynaglide UCR's at 210#, I've been using on the same Amsteel UCR's for a few years.

I just got this http://lawsonequipment.com/Whoopie-Line-c159/ It's in-between dynaglide and Amsteel, so we'll see how it holds up....

Yea I think I might run into weight issues using dynaglide. I am a big boy (6'3" and 240 pounds) so I am leaning more towards the amsteel.

At 240 I would not recommend Dynaglide for any of your suspension other than things like Hammock Ridge Line. For main suspension 7/64 amsteel would be the starting point.

I'm 195 at my worst, more often in the mid 180's depending on season. I use Dynaglide 5' or 6' leaders with one fixed eye, attached to Ti LoopAliens that are spliced to Dynaglide CL's, and Kevlar straps on the other end. This is the middle of my second season on this setup and I have seen zero issues that would warrant changing the Dynaglide out, yet. If anything, the leaders will likely show some wear by later this season. The CL's are perfectly fine.

I trust amsteel. Why take a chance on your suspension to save a couple of grams. Nothing worse in the hammock life than being all settled in and your life-line snaps.
    Just my 4¢.......

Also, addressing the elephant in the room, Dynaglide colors are ugly.

    Conversely, Amsteel is beautiful!

I have been using 1/8 inch amsteel whoopies for the last 2 years. I am a big boy at 6'1" and 330 lbs. I really liked the whoopies at first but what I have found through extensive use is that they no longer are easy to adjust. They seem to take a "set" due to load. Has anyone else experienced this issue - or maybe it is just because of my weight???

How long are the buries on your slings Shroom? And are you milking them good to distribute the load evenly over the full bury length?
