Hello everyone,
Just wanted to extend an open invite for a last minute trip to enjoy the fall colors before they are gone in the WNC/ETN mountains. A friend and myself will be spending our first 2 nights near Joyce Kilmer NF, then 2 nights at Round Mountain campground in the Harmon Den sector of Pisgah NF. We will only be staying at first come-first serve sites and the max fee for each campsite we're considering is $10-20 per night, which we can all split equally.
We plan to do some day hikes along Cherohala Skyway in Joyce Kilmer (likely Huckleberry Knob + the Hangover/Bob Bald) the first two days, and then some day hikes along the AT near the Greeneville/Hot Springs area (likely Big Firescald knob + Max Patch) the next two days. If you have any interest in joining us for hangs or day hikes, the more the merrier! Feel free to contact me here or I'm happy to PM you my cell number.
I will update anyone interested with further logistics, as we are choosing our day hikes based on the weather forecasts, and havent chosen a specific campground for the first two nights near Joyce Kilmer- there are about 4 great campgrounds to choose from in the Robbinsville area: Horse Cove, Cheoah Point, Tsali, or possibly hanging near the Summit of Huckleberry Knob for a night. This is a new area for me.
As far as the last two nights at round mountain, I have lots of knowledge and experience in the area so know a little more as to what to expect.
Cheers!
