A main characteristic of past Da Shack hangs is the abundance of food, including some hangs that included Mark's famous pig roast.

People are enthusiastically helpful to see that we have enough to eat. We have some super chef's.

Of course you could do your own meals but it is more fun bringing something to share. We graze all weekend.

Google Da Shack for more information, YouTube or Hammockforums.net. T

Does Da Shack need any supplies?

I know Tumbleweed's list will be different, but I had written this down in my notes:

    - paper plates
    - paper bowls
    - oven liner sheet for bottom of stove
    - gas stove liners top of range
    - oven cleaner

Hi All, We can always use paper products. I will take care of the propane for the grills, stove and oven. You folks take care of the food needs. Need the food sign up Spreadsheet. It's in my PM's. stuck.

I’m a complete noob, but am considering joining in. What facilities are on site and what if any activities take place?

Facilities / activities at da shack .

The facilities include a two story hunting shack made from a 100 year old farm granary I moved to the top of a hill from the original homestead on highway T. Up stairs could sleep 3 bunkbeds comfortably. Downstairs are a gas 4 burner cookstove & oven, several recliner chairs, a kitchen table and chairs. as well as a wood stove for cooking and heating. We burn a significant amount of seasoned oak hardwoods here over a weekend as well as the nonstop bonfires outside. Sliding glass patio doors and porch chainsawed into the north wall look out over a 40 acre corn / soybean field. The south wall is porched to look out over a 60 + acre mixed hardwoods forest. There is no running water or electricity on the site, butt there is a "port-a-potty" discretely located in the woods to the northwest.

The activities include hiking the Ice Age Trail which goes through the property, the nonstop bonfire, some fireworks, target shooting out to 300+ yards, general playing around, and LOTS and did I say LOTS of eating . Does elevenzies mean something to you? Well it does here! General Bee Essing around the bonfire can goes till after 2:00 AM. Going to miss Mark's beautiful laugh in the night air... There is a lot of hammock hanging going on in the woods, and folks are friendly and helpful sharing knowledge and gear to keep everyone happy..

Best bet is to watch some google YouTube and HammockForums.net videos to get a better feel for the "Da Shack" events.

I am T, and I host these events several times each year with a huge amount of help from many folks.

Da Shack is where many noobs have tested gear among helpful newly found friends over the years. I was one of them back in 2017. Da Shack provides easy access, a place to bail out at night if needed, great food, and tons of fun. I do absolutely nothing sometimes and yet stay busy all day somehow.
The game is the best teacher.
