    Down source

So in my area we have a company called M@C discount. It's an online auction house that sells store returns and over runs. I'm not sure if there are any places like this elsewhere. I know we have it here in Western PA and they are in South Carolina. Anyhow I bought some down pillows and a comforter for cheap. Like $30 total. I'll report back when I find the quality of the fill. I figure even if it is a high feather content it will work for a warmer weather quilt.

Yeah I had foot surgery and have been non weight bearing for a month. I was going to buy a Chameleon before a needed surgery. So I figured heck with it I'll just make my stuff. It honestly has been easier than I expected. Of course we will see if that changes in a couple of hour when I put the halves together and sew the zipper in. lol

I did some Costco quilts a while back and bought from here:

This is sold by the pound which is a LOT!

    That's an interesting subject.

Where do you guys usually source your downs?

I thought old blankets and pillows could be a source, but again you don't know what the feather ratio is. We have company in Germany that uses a down, feather wool mix for their sleeping bags and quitls. I guess to keep the wholesale purchasing price low.

Is there a way how to calculate the price point in terms of temperature rating?
