    Pine Creek Rail Trail Pennsylvania

I just did an overnighter on the trail. I wasn’t sure how hammock friendly the campsites were so I took a chance. I hammocked at the Hoffman Campground. 2 sites had big diameter trees. I had long straps but the trees were a little farther apart than I like. I found slightly off in the woods trees smaller and closer. But they were pineys with a lot of sap running down. No thanks. So I hung from the pavilion. No one else camped there for the night.

I checked out other campgrounds along the trail. PA DNR thinks wide open grass & no trees for campgrounds. Black Walnut Flats was the only other campground I found that had trees to hang from.

It’s a great rail trail to otherwise bicycle.

I had a similar experience on the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal towpath — I’m glad I brought a Tensa Solo on the trip. I only found two trees one night out of three that we camped.
