    Uwharrie Backpacking 16 17 18 September 2022

Slipping into Uwharries near Troy NC Friday Saturday Sunday
    Or Saturday Sunday only
    Good weather GarnaUteed
We were rained out this past weekend,
    I know it’s short notice
And it’s only one week before Grayson Hang

If you can only go to one CHOOSE GRAYSON
    I’m going to both

    Exact location undetermined
    Could be:
    Beech Camp
    Fat Man’s Camp
    Spencer Creek Bridge

All these hikes are short miles
We can synch exact location Friday

    And Saturday arrivals are good

Some of us are posting on Spencer Creek Bridge thread. I’ll post on both threads.

I'm in. Doing a no-rain dance this week. So far, it's looking to be good. Clear and low 80's as a high. 7-Day Forecast 35.42N 79.98W (weather.gov)

Just got off the phone with my hang posse. We'll be up that way Friday afternoon for a weekend stay. Grayson is gonna tough on everyones schedules so if I go to it too, it will be solo.

Zero plan on where we'll land in Uwharrie next weekend so I'll keep checking in..

    Uwharrie Backpacking 16 17 18 September 2022

Let’s park at Yates, and camp at Beech Camp
On Dutchman’s Creek Trail at Dutchman’s Creek

At Yates Place Campground Troy NC
Google Maps will get you there

Take spur trail out of Yates Place Campground.
    Hike about five minutes
To T intersection with Uwharrie Trail
Turn left on Uwharrie Trail going south
Hike about thirty minutes to another T intersection
Turn right onto Dutchman’s Creek Trail
Hike about thirty more minutes, crossing several step across creeks.
Now Dutchman’s Creek Trail will cross Dutchman’s Creek three times in rapid succession
After crossing Dutchman’s Creek twice you are at Beech Camp. Beech camp is named for all the beech trees perfect for hanging hammocks. Beech Camp is not marked on map—I made up the name.
If water is high, it’s possible to skip both creek crossings and stay on same side of creek as Beech Camp.

I’ve chosen Beech Camp because of great trees, and if it’s occupied by other campers, we can continue on Dutchman’s Creek Trail and camp anywhere in next 200 yards. We will have plenty of creek water and there are lots of trees to hang hammocks

You can use AllTrailsPro and download with WI-FI at home Uwharrie Trail Dutchman’s Creek Trail loop Troy NC

Some will depart Yates Friday afternoon and some will depart Yates Saturday morning. Text and call members in our small group to synchronize departure times as needed or if needed

Yates it is! As of now we plan to be there barring any issues. I'll have another guy with me and possibly King Gage depending on work schedules. Phantom said he was cooking ribeyes. SWEET!

You’ll have to cover the ribeyes
All meals “Ever man fur hisself”

I might share some snacks, but no ribeyes, we must consider your blood pressure
