He seems to have fallen out of love with EE quilts rather quickly!
Thanks for sharing that link. I already ordered the UQ from EE as a custom order, so I am just going to have to see what my own experience and go from there. I can always return it if I see issues from the get go. I see a lot of positive testimonials as well so I’m just going to judge for myself when it arrives. I wonder if the issues were worked out in the Revolt V2. It’s the only EE model that came out with a V2, so I’m guessing they saw something in their design that needed to be addressed. They being said, if I could go back in time I probably would have ordered the Wookie since it is designed specifically to fit the Blackbird original. The next UQ will be a wookie. I’m just undecided between a 0 and eventually adding a 40. Or going directly to the 40 and stacking it with my 20 when in lieu of a 0. There was a formula I found once online for determining temp ratings when stacking but I can’t seem to find it now. I do recall that the formula rated my 0F sleeping bag and 20F quilt equating to -25F rating when stacked (which I am skeptical of).

100% agree. I have 20F top and bottoms, but trying to figure out the best strategy for expanding my range.

Your 20* quilts will work in just about all weather, if you can vent properly. So that's why I think 0* is the next most important, while 40* quilts are just a luxury.

Thanks. I think a 0 degree Wookie UQ would be my next upgrade.

I did the UQ upgrade first, mainly because it’s easier to layer topquilts than it is to layer under quilts.

That makes sense. I suppose if I get the 0F UQ, I could always layer my 20F UQ on top of my 20F top quilt as well.

I purchased a 0°F Under Quilt and used it with an old 20°F sleeping bag with success down to 3°F so I would definitely upgrade the UQ first. I think you can get away with a lower rating on your TQ if your UQ is good.

I have two EE TQs and have used them for close to 10 years now... love them.

The wookie is a great UQ ( I have a 0 degree ). Just make sure you order the correct one as there is one that fits the regular BB and one that fits the XLC Blackbird ( and Eldorado )
I am still 18 but with 52 years of experience !

Easy enough to vent a UQ........
I'd rather have more than less warmth under me.

I found the biggest improvement in my hammock comfort at cold nights to come from improving my underquilt. My vote is for the underquilt, you can always toss a Costco down quilt or two inside the older top quilt to adjust for the weather, much harder to stack UQs.
