    What am I doing wrong?

I have a Hammock Gear standard 11’. My problem is I always end up in the bottom and my feet end up over the side. I’ve been working on this for quite a while and just can’t seem to get things dialed in! I only get a chance to get out 2 or 3 times a year. So I don’t have an opportunity to keep trying different things. Any suggestions would be welcome! And as I’m sure you’re all aware, I’ve got to much invested to give up. And I do sleep well, I just know it could be better.

Makes me think you may need to hang your foot end higher as it sounds like you are sliding down towards the foot end thus your feet over the side.

I keep my foot end higher, but I’ll have to go farther! I’m heading out in a few weeks, so I’ll go higher! Thanks Shug.

You may need to go as far as 12 to 18 inches to get you in the sweet spot. Hang the foot end of the hammock suspension closer to the tree than the head end. Stay at it!

I didn’t think I would have to go that high. I hope this will do the trick. I probably never tried higher than around 6”. Big race in 45 minutes!!

if you raise your feet up at least 12" and move your foot end closer to the tree, you'll be lying flat on your back with your legs slightly elevated --- it's a wonderful way to sleep. A good clue: if you are getting the hang right, you'll feel pressure on the flat of your back, if you don't have your feet high enough, you'll feel pressure on your butt. Keep tweaking your hang -- it takes some figuring out, but once you get it, you'll have it!

Another +1 on raising the foot end up. I know it's not quite the same, but I do the same with my Warbonnet Eldorado, to the point where you think it almost looks weird. You will find that 'sweet spot', I'm sure of it.

It's probably raising the foot end, but another possibility is if you hang it too loose (no tension in the ridgeline), the edge of the hammock tends to not be as tight I've noticed and creates a soft edge that feet can drift over more easily.

Same with my eldorado. It really doesn't look right at all when its set best for me. Crazy but it works

    Righto....from Warbonnet Hammock 101:

Find 2 trees that are ideally 13-17′ apart. Hang the hammock so that “once occupied” the foot end is about 16′′ higher than the head end, and by “end” I mean the end of the fabric, not the attachment point on the tree itself. Since the foot end needs to be significantly higher, the easiest way to achieve this is often to just position the hammock much closer to the foot tree AND attach the webbing to the foot tree at head height or above. Having the head end farther away from it’s tree means it will sink more when you get in and that is usually what you want.
The BB/XLC/Traveler is designed to be laid in “off-center” so that your head is very close to the head end of the hammock while your feet are alot farther away from the foot end. This allows the fabric under your legs to spread out properly when laying on the diagonal. To do this you’ll want to lay so that your eyes are aprox. even with the farthest side tieout (BB or XLC) so that one tieout is even with your eyes and the other is chest level. Once you are laying in this correct spot you will then determine if you want the head/foot end higher or lower. Most people will want it setup so that when your eyes are even with the tieout that you are basically level/horizontal from hips to shoulders, so if your upper body seems too inclined or declined simply move the webbing up or down the tree trunk to adjust.
