Talking Finally Finished! Portable Hammock Stand.

I finally finished my portable hammock stand.....right before it started raining

This stand is based on warbonnetguy's, Sgt. Rock's, and Jazilla'a hammock stands and drawings. The base is 10' long and the angled uprights are 5'.
Takes about 7-8 minutes to setup. Here's how it works:

This is the stand broke down for transportation. It easily fits in the 6' bed of my Toyota pickup. Breaks down into 2 pieces:

The first step is to couple the 2 sections of the stand together in the middle:

Next the 4 feet flip out:

    Then the uprights flip up:

The final step is to bring the braces down and tighten all the bolts:

Here's the finished stand with a hammock to give you an idea of size:

Here's a drawing courtesy of Jazilla:

Ok, not to be negative but I have some concerns. It looks like hinges are the only support for the outriggers (sounds manlier), and for the uprights. It looks like the upright hinges are stainless, so they should be fine. Especially with the supports attached to them. The outrigger hinges though look brass. I would be worried that they may not be strong enough. Another concern is the hardwear used in the hinges. I know thye come with regular wood screws. Did you switch them out with longer wood screws? They usually come with smaller 1" screws. Since they are going into a 4x4 I would use 2 1/2" or even 3" galvanized screws. Just some thoughts.

Well, luckily these would be easy fixes. A couple dollars worth of steel hinges for the outriggers, and a handfull of larger steel screws should solve it.

The hinges for the upright are Xtra heavy duty gate hinges w/ large 3" lag screws, 5 on each side of the hinge. The hinges on the legs are heavy brass door hinges. Nothing I bought came with screws and I bought the beefiest hardware I could get.

Sgt. Rock's hammock stand was basically the same thing as mine but I added the feature of being able to take it apart in the middle so I could load it up and take it with me If I wanted.

I have had a chance to test it a little and it seems sturdy enough. I also added large eye bolts to the top of the uprights to be used to tie the hammock to.

Ok. I could tell the uprights were gate hinges, which are plenty strong. The biggest concern was the screws, and you seem to have that covered. Just thought I would bring it up in case it was an overlooked detail. Rather have it mentiond now than in a report from you tomorrow saying the legs gave and you flipped over in the stand.
