    Wide hammock matwrial

    Hi folks-
I'm putting together a new winter set up and and ordering a netless hammock from SLD. My current hammocks are Warbonnets, but I'm considering a wider material to offset slight shoulder squeeze i get on occasion. SLD offers hexon wide and MNT 1.2. I believe the former is 70ish wide and the latter around 68. Is it worth the extra weight, etc. For these wider .aerials or should I just stick to regular hexon 1.6? Thanks for your thoughts.

My choice would be 1.6 Hexon wide, or 1.7 MTN wide

And have it made 66 inches wide. This will lower weight (after adding weight) a bit, and reduce extra loose fabric around your face.
A big plus would be two knotty mods, one at head end and head side of hammock. And the other at foot end and foot side of hammock as you lay on diagonal.
Knotty mod at or about your head will reduce floppy fabric near your face.

For length of hammock, I choose 11.5 or 12 foot hammock.

I hope you find hammock nirvana.
If not, sell it and try again

    Good luck

I have a SLD Trail Lair in the 1.2 MTN XL. I had it made to a finished width of 62” and don’t experience any shoulder squeeze. I think part of that has to do with Jared’s GE design. The 1.2MTN will have more stretch than the Hexon 1.6, so keep that in mind if you like a firmer material.

If you ask SLD, they can also use hyper d xl- for a small upgrade. I believe that cloth is a bit wider than the others
FYI: If you want to know what type a certain bear is, sneak up behind it and kick it. Then,
run like crazy and climb up a tree. If the bear climbs the tree and eats you, it's a black
bear. If the bear just pushes the tree over and eats you, it's a grizzly bear : )

Do not walk behind me, for I may not lead. Do not walk ahead of me, for I may not follow. Do not walk beside me, either, just leave me alone.
