I will be there mid afternoon today. See ya then!
HANG WELL MY FRIENDS AND HANG IN THERE!
Late to the party (again) but I'm going to have to miss it this year. Family reunion and youth football playoff games going on. Ya'll have fun!
Nice meeting Y'all! Sorry we missed the purdy boil and early evening gathering around the fire. We were lazy and slept in. Missed meeting a lot of people when we visited. Thanks Phantom for hosting and having a nice set up and a mountain of firewood.
Roy and his wifes camp kitchen setup was AWESOME!
Lots of people there. Way more than I expected. Got to meet the world famous Hickery and got an "EARLY" out of him Fun stuff with very nice people.
ps. Kyle with the through hikers said his payday bar was still at that spot he left it
Really great turnout! Good to see many old friends and new ones. Many thanks to the "Chairman Of The Board" Phantom Grappler for calling us all together again.
Had a great time as expected!! <3 Thanks to Susan for the in-person crochet hat tutorial. Enjoyed time spent with Tom-Tom and Ripstop. Shared food was yummy. Loved meeting the Roughbutts - looking forward to some water adventures with you guys in the near future. Can't wait to do it again this spring!
Good time with good friends
Not all those who wander are lost
First time at the Yates Hang and really enjoyed it and meeting such awesome people. Younger daughter really enjoyed her first camping trip and older daughter will deny it, but she enjoyed it as well. Thanks for organizing all this Phantom and hate that I missed the hike to Beech Camp. Looking forward to the Spring Hang !
“Purdy Boil” alcohol stove competition won by Roger McIntyre, our new champion.
Bob, Joyride took 2nd place for the third time as well as winning first place once before.
Mama Bulla aka Kris gave a blazing finish to capture our Ladies competition.
Our Tour of Hammocks mostly featured hammock stands. Cajun demonstrated his YOBO Cricket hammock stand, Autumn Outdoor Gear hammock, and a zero degree under quilt.
Don Kemp had two hammocks under a large Kelty tarp housing two hammocks on one tree.
Sweet Baby Doll and Don had head ends of their hammocks suspended with YOBO bipods.
Slugger’s totally enclosed bridge hammock, was set between two trees, but was capable of going to ground if needed. Slugger, is it a Haven Tent Hammock?
Poppi Smurf has a DIY wooden hammock stand, with tripods on both ends braced with a ridge pole for stability.
Richard-Rendawg and Cajun showed a free standing Tensa Stand, along with orange tarp and hammock.
Phantom showed Dutch’s new bonded seam tarp with no sewing in ridgeline. It’s touted as being leak free.
Our final stop, was to admire Eli’s pioneer-bushcrafter giant canvas tarp with complete trail kitchen inside. Eli-Roogles also demonstrated his YOBO Cricket Hammock Stand.
Old and new juxtaposed!
Never got round to Booney Hat Competition.
There were some great booney hats.
Saturday after dark we had Freddy lurking in shadows around campfire.
VirtKitty, ShortBus, David, Kris, and Phantom took a day hike that was supposed to be about a mile—was more like a mile and a half minimum, maybe two.
Round trip close to four miles.
We were about to turn back when we came upon the new trail shelter—Crystal’s Place.
I am sorry that I misjudged the mileage.
Gastronomic delights by ShortBus, Mama Bulla, PappyAmos, GroundHog, Tazmaniac and other chefs kept us from starving. There is nothing like outdoor cooking.
WolfPackOne-Jim kept a tidy fire. Jim was that a Solo fire stove?
Y’all are welcome to post photos of our hang—lotsa kool kids here.
Aaaaaaaiiiiiiggghhhtt
