We got home around 7:30 and I just crawled out of the shower. Crawled is the word too LOL. This hike kicked my rump! Being a flatlander with bad knees I got a crash course on Uwharrie.
Way more difficult than I was expecting and the heat amplified that. First time using a Sawyer and Twistytee and Phantom were awesome with advice. Twisty bailed me out with salt tablets to battle leg cramps!
Phantom impressed me handling the hike so well. Twisty is a machine. He got breaks waiting on us slow folk to catch up. Probably a little much for my first hike up that way but I got some good gear advice from both them guys. Learned a bunch for sure!

    Many thanks guys!

Thanks Twistytee, we needed you to post Uwharries Hot Loop. First time Oyster and Gage been in Uwharries, next time we’ll capture Sasquatch.
My “dad bod” took a well deserved day off today.

It was so hot…the trail runners were walking
We camped down near the creek in the shade

Thanks for joining gents. My August trek will be higher elevation for some cooler weather, but Uwharries will serve us well again in the fall. I thought I had chiggers when I got home as I found red welts around my ankles and waist. Guess it was skeeters down by the creek. That was the lowest water level I can recall seeing in several years. Oyster and King Gage were good company and Phantom kept me entertained with “mostly true but maybe a little lie” stories when the going got tough. Looking forward to the next hang.

King Gage ankles we're eat up too. He showed me today while we were hanging out our gear. I'm now WAY more motivated on a new pack. And a moped. True story.
