Greetings, New to hanging in trees

Thanks for the acceptance into the forum. I am a long time back woods backpacker that took some time off while my kids were growing up. I have come back to find my love of the back country has never really gone away, BUT now I have discovered the wonderful world of motorbikes and Hammocks!

I motocamp with a dualsport bike now and recently spent my first night hanging in a recreational hammock that was entry too small in the Kootenay's. I just purchased a DD Frontline XL to correct that issue (yeah I know not many of you seem to talk about them). I wanted something that I could use as a Bivy tent if not in a suitable place with trees. I keep my packing light (habit from carrying all my crap on my back). Including my dry bags my three day kit is only 30lbs! (proud of that, most people are well north of 50lbs on their bikes). I watched some of "The Shug's" videos (dude your a different Cat! fun to listen to and learn from).

I have already learned a bunch on here and hope to dig further into the knowledge held here.

    Greetings,
    Beaker.

Folks on this forum take all sorts of paths to find their perfect hang. There are two-wheel motor heads like you, but also people on the motorless types of two-wheelers too! Even one-wheelers. (Dig enough and you'll find the Shug videos of him unicycling through the woods.) There are also those who canoe, kayak, and wear snow shoes while pulling their pulks. There are many (like me) who prefer to hoof it with pack on our backs and boots/shoes/trail runners on our feet, but there are just as many who are die-hard car campers (gotta have their stuff!). There's RV-life road warriors and stay-at-home backyard warriors. There are even those who have given up on traditional beds altogether and have strung up their hammocks in their bedrooms at home. One thing you'll find that we all have in common is a preference for suspending our sleep systems. Welcome to our eclectic group of hammock hanging junkies. I think you'll enjoy the company.

@ almost 69 I have rode motorbikes since 12. Off & on road. Last 20 year strictly street. A lot of long distance travel. Been using hammocks for almost 20 year now. Love hammock travel.

Welcome from Utah. I love that you are traveling by bike! I try to do the same as often as possible, and my hammock (and hammock stand where needed) is the only way I sleep. I just returned Sunday from a 5 day motorcycle trip, and can't wait to get back out there. I don't have a dual-sport bike (yet). It's on the short list for my dear budget officer to approve.
