    recently purchased Tensa 4 setup

As I am now living in a 55+ community I needed a portable hammock stand i started to make my own and while it worked great it was extremally heavy 35+lbs and clunky (not very portable) so I ended up biting the bullet and bought a Tensa4 from Tensaoutdoor.

I tried to set up the stand according to the user guide and it just didn't feel right as the "ball connectors" and straps didn't lay neatly and appeared to be loaded unevenly. So I decided to use some of the soft shackles i made for the DYI version to simplify the joints as shown below. With this setup none of the straps or ball connectors appear stressed and appear to be loaded evenly.

So my question is ... does anyone here see anything in these joints that i should be worried about?

With this configuration I am easily able to adjust the hammock stand for my 11' Appalachian hammock set with a 110" ridgeline

    foot end apex is 64",
    head end 56"
    apex to apex 140"
    Base is 65" wide

The Appalachian was purchased in 2011 so Its about to be replaced with a DYI 12' 1.8 oz AIRWAVE the current stand configuration should accommodate the 12 footer also 119" ridgeline

Looks good to me, just ensure that you check the soft shackle knot positioning each time you climb in.

Thanks, I wasn't expecting a blessing, just observations from others who may have setup tensa* type stands. The first couple times i set mine up the strap was under the leg and looked like it was pinched between the foot and the ground which left me feelin uneasy.

I use soft shackles to attach my hammock to the Tensa4. I did have the stitching rip on one of my guy line daisy chain straps next to the buckle. I hooked a pole connector to the strap next to the X-Box stitched area and the stitches failed. You need to pass your pole connectors or carabiner (soft shackle) through daisy chain segments that have triple bar tacks on each end of the link.

Thanks I don't think i looked close enough at the daisy chain straps to notice the way they are stitched...

    Thank you

I have spent quite a few nights out in the woods following the setup guidelines.

The first few times I was dubious of the ball end connectors, but they worked fine. I trust them now but they appear to be a normal wear item. I do suspect they will last quite a while though.

Nothing wrong with using the soft shackles like you did that I can see.

Thanks - yes nothing wrong with being a little cautious. I bought this to replace a turtle dog stand that I built several years ago. Now that i think i have it dialed in I may buy a second to replace the wife's TD stand as I noticed the hinge is bending.
