I’m seeing comments in the 2021 thread that there will not be a 2022 hang due to damage from last years storms? Can someone confirm that? As of 2 weeks ago, the trail and foot bridges were still intact leading to the enchanted forest.

So all the other info received up to now about the Cat Gap trail being impassable and that it marked as "Do not enter" is wrong?
I'm on my way up there later this week. If I can beat the holiday crowds I will check it out. Can't figure why we haven't heard any positive reports until now.
Last time I was there remembering some posted warnings about cat gap but everything was in good shape. No issues getting to that pine clearing
Fish hatch road was closed for a bit but that was awhile ago

Several months ago a posting from the Forest Service stated the first bridge after leaving the parking lot and the log bridge over the waterfall were damaged. A friend who hikes up there frequently told me there was a sign at the start of the Cat Gap trail stating it was closed. She asked a ranger who just said there was significant damage to the trail. She hasn't been there since early March. From johnericherring's and possum daddy's posts, it appears all is well now. Maybe the bear fixed things!
Fact remains that Tacoma96's job will not allow him time to organize a hang anyway. If someone wants to step up......
If you build it.....
.....they will come!
BTW in March, people were using the forest road from the parking lot to connect to the John Rock trail to get to the top and back.
Yes anyone can step up and post a hang.
First there must be communication with Park Rangers to be sure, Cat Gap Loop Trail is open to Enchanted Forest.
Second, is our bear still hungry?
Third and most important: what date if any is the graduation run for runners camp.
If anyone steps up to gather answers to pressing questions—I’m ready to go to John Rock.
Everything else can take care of itself. As much as I enjoy a campfire and hotdog and bodacious chili supper. Neither is absolutely necessary for a John Hang. Each hang does not need to be identical to previous hangs.

Sorta related… there was a post over on Reddit recently about a bear getting into a hammock hangers gear and ripping up their pack. It wasn’t in John Rock proper but down the road from the fish hatchery. So if anybody goes… be on the look out.
