Okutama beer run (day hike ): Hatonosu > Honnita > Okutama

18-June Day hike in Okutama, Japan
Temp was not too hot nor muggy and cloudy throughout the day.

    Course

JR Hatonosu station: pretty crowded at around 8AM

Unexpected peak marker: Mt. Kobutaka (瘤高山)

    Mt. Honnita

    It reads, Hiker’s Manner:
    - Do not take
    - Do not throw (away)
    - Do not disturb

Finished with the trail. Cool stream nearby.

Some photos along the 2.x km road walk to the station

The goal: VERTERE beer and cafe

    http://verterebrew.com
Only open on weekends and holidays

Pint of Rhoeas and fish & chips

    At home with the haul

Great hike in a beautiful area. Any hike that ends with great beer and fish n chips has got to be a good one.

Gotta ask... what is that machine's function?

Thanks! I had to look up the term and it’s called an agricultural monorail. Used to move goods up steep and rough terrain

I hardly ever see them in working condition and usually see mangled tracks on the trail instead.

Always curious about far away lands...
Mountain views are good for the soul....& getting to them is good for my waistline.

    Very cool!

Good way to get groceries/supplies to a restaurant or hut up on a ridge. In the White Mtns (NH) they have young, sturdy folks carrying A-frames with 100lb loads...

Beautiful hike! The trees along the first part of the trail are stunning. I would sit and stare at them for hours. The agriculture monorail is fascinating; I think I would like one for my yard just to ride around. Fish & chips with beer looks delicious!
