    Dunk or Spray

What is your preferred method of permethrin application for your hammocks and gear? I bought the concentrate to mix and will be treating my soon to arrive WB setup.

I bought the Martins 10 from tractor supply. Tried it on my boots and has minimal smell after 24 hours.

I've only ever sprayed with Sawyer spray. But I'm thinking of getting some concentrate and dunking just to see the difference. I've never noticed a smell with the spray.

I’ve mixed concentrate and sprayed hunting clothes before. Can’t remember concentration. I have never tried dunking but have read about it.

Excited to see all the responses..

Don't forget to search for old posts. Apparently there are 1383 threads already on HF that mention permethrin. Lots of gold to mine there.

Sorry if this is beating a dead horse. Wasn't my intention. Figured bringing a topic like this back to the front page wouldn't be an issue. Yes, I'm a noob

I did 19ozs of water to 1 oz of permethrin. Got that from a search here somewhere. Tried to match the Sawyer spray.

I've only sprayed once. Only because I didn't want to mix up enough to treat just the few items I had. I've always mixed a gallon of it into a 5 gallon bucket with a lid I can seal. Then I dunk and let sit with the lid on. "Sticks Blog" is the method I use. Once I tried to keep the left over mixture and put the lid on the bucket. A few months later, the mix was this blackish color. From then on, I just pour it around the foundation of our buildings. We live in Texas which is termite capital. We've had some termites a few times and our pest guy treats with.......permethrin. He digs a channel next to the building and pours in the mix. Then kicks the dirt back on it. NEVER seen another termite where he'd treated.

    Dunk or Spray

I usually spray unless it’s to windy then I dunk. Haven’t noticed any difference between the two as far as how long it lasts on items.

Not an issue for me. Just wanted to remind us all that there's a lot of knowledge stored in this forum. Those that came before us knew some stuff.
