    How many hangs?

Just curious how many hangs before you change out your suspension? I use Dutch spider web to amsteel. Going on 4th season with this set up? Maybe 3rd.

I have the same suspension setup. I hang with it nightly at home, and use the same system on trips. I think my straps are about 2 years old? I check them weekly, and everything is good so far. I get WAY better longevity out of the spider straps vs. reg poly straps.

I would say if you notice any fraying, or if something doesn't look/feel right, then just go ahead and replace the straps. The amsteel loops same thing.

    How many hangs?

Check your suspension before and after each camping trip.
If suspension is showing excessive wear, replace, if not keep on hanging.
If amsteel has black burn marks from movement while under load, replace amsteel.

Suspensions that have a load rating of 1500 to 3000 pounds hardly ever fail, if at all! Only problems I’ve seen, are movement of suspension parts against each other, while under load. If that has happened, I blame it on user error, including using hardware with rough edges. Also if using knots or hitches, correct knots or hitches must be used and used correctly. Choose right knot for the job, tie it correctly and dress it correctly (hand tighten real hard). And initial first loading, real slow by adding body weight incrementally. This careful initial loading can also be applied to suspensions with hardware.
This reduces chances of rapid suspension movement on initial loading.
If you have good gear, and use it correctly, I see no problems.

No problems, with these exceptions: does not apply to stupid ultralight suspensions that push their weight limit envelope.
Also does not apply to hammocks that are rigged in a “flat line” horizontal suspension, well outside the suggested 30 degree optimal hang.
A flat “spang tight” hang places exponentially higher forces on your hammock, suspension, and trees.

    Good luck

My longest running suspension is a set of 6-foot straps and whoopie slings that I've used since about 2015. Last time I used them was last week. Other straps I own have been in use for varying periods of time but at least 3 years or so. I check them out periodically but I've never replaced a strap for wear (yet).

I've used my black poly straps from Dutchware for 6 years. I'm ready to trade them for something new as they are finally starting to show their age, but still safe to use as of now.
