If weight were not a concern and I wanted a diamond configuration, I'd be tempted to try a 10x10 square pitched in a diamond configuration. I bet Simply Light Designs would even make one in a lighter weight material. Ive never bought from him, but I hear he is willing to customize orders.

Appreciate the answers. Yeah Hennessy are asym. I have several tarps Kelty, HG, McCat, etc. I just really liked taking that little 9x9 square in the summer on quick over nighters.

I got this one... It configures out as a diamond and actual measurements is 9.8 feet each corner. (The green 10X10 one) Very simple to set up and covers my 11' hammock pretty well.

I'm a little late to the game, but for a small diamond tarp, I can thoroughly recommend the Foxelli 12 x 9 diamond rain tarp from Amazon. I've been using it for summer hammock trips for the last three years. Never had a drop of water fall on me, and the construction is actually quite good. Just large enough for an 11 foot hammock.

It has the usual cheapie plastic sliders, but they do the job. The nylon guylines are nicely reflective. Stakes are best replaced with better ones.

I really like your "stick-to-distribute-the-pressure" idea instead of tying it directly to the grommet.
In order to see what few have seen, you must go where few have gone. And DO what few have done.

Yeah. When a tarp costs less than $25.00, I'm being extra careful with the tiedowns.

The metal grommets are definitely the Achilles' heel of this tarp. But with a few well placed twigs, problem solved.
