2022 Adventure Cycling Bike Travel Weekend - Hammock camping in the rain

Another year, and another great camping and biking four day weekend. Rained everyday so I 'cheated' by trucking my camp and biked about the abundant trail system with Belle the Border Collie. I prefer using my 'low end' gear since I leave it up while gone biking during the day. The silnylon tarp did an excellent job warding off the rain showers. Anyone else make it out for the ACA bike travel weekend? Sorry about the pic size as it seems I previously set the sizing for another mission and neglected to switch it back.

I missed the part about trucking stuff in the first time I read this, laughed when I saw the tote box under the tarp. I've not thought of using an "alternate cheap tarp" and leaving it up while out and about, how often are things like tarps and hammock gear stolen or vandalized in your area?

I also went with an 'expendable' hammock, i.e. a Chameleon. This particular campground gets quite a mix of users; many from local towns that bolt for the hills to get away for the weekends. But it also gets a fair share of out of state folks and a few shady locals that 'homestead' a campground and trailhead circuit. Mostly I do it just to be on the "better safe than sorry" theme. As I would end up beating myself up with a stupid stick if someone did decide to score some hammock gear.

Going to remember that phrase, haven't heard it in years. Thanks for the info, I'd hate to have to buy new gear because I was too trusting and left my stuff out on display while away on a hike. For now going to pack up and carry or safely stow anything away that I don't want to walk away.
