My Hexon 1.6W weighs about 22.4 ounces, the Hexon 1.2 is about 17.4, so 5 ounces difference. Bear in mind, wide Hexon is ~12" wider than standard Hexon, so that's 11 square feet of additional fabric. The weight difference between standard width 1.6 and 1.2 would probably only be 2-3 ounces.

Compared to 1.6, there's a little more stretch with the 1.2, but it seems to breathe a bit better in warm weather. I'm keeping the 1.6 TL around to see if it works out better in the winter.

I have the Trail Lair in MTN 1.2. I didn’t go full wide on the XL for weight and “wall of fabric” reasons. It’s a 60” wide 11’ hammock and weighs 16oz with the .67 bug net, #3 zips and a removable peak shelf. I weigh ~175lbs and could have gotten away with Hexon 1.0 but wanted the added insurance of the stronger fabric. I also had Jared add the zippers for the removable wind shield which adds another 4oz to the winter weight on it. I also have a 10’ Voyageur in the Hexon 1.2. After using both, I find the Hexon more comfortable. It has a softer feel and maybe a bit less stretch than the MTN.

    Well I ordered another one!

This time in Hex 2.2 XL! So far through some nap hangs I’m really liking it. This is the first extra wide hammock I’ve ever had. A bit of extra fabric flapping around on the sides but I can really lay at an angle and it’s been pretty comfortable.

How is the Trail Lair to sit in, ie chair mode? Do those cutaways mean no back support so you must sit straight up as opposed to relaxing more like a recliner?

With my extra wide theres enough fabric to lean back in just fine. A bit less so with my regular width 1.6 hexon.

I've only managed to do some day lounging in my 1.2 hexon, Hangcon will be my first nightly outing in it and so looking forward to the all night comfort.

I’ve ordered 4 (wait… 5! Haha) over the years (ended up giving one to my brother, and I probably need to sell one…)

How long are they? All mine are 12’ and wide fabrics. Super comfortable. The Hex 2.2 XL was my first one and I do really like it, it just predated some of the add-ons that Jared eventually made available— either that or I just failed to order them (peak shelves, wind shields and such).

A year or so ago I had Jared make one with a built in synthetic UQ

Do you find the quilt hooks necessary when using the tie outs? Just trying to get my head around all the options if/when I pull the trigger on one of these. PS I have a trail winder UQ if that makes a difference.

You won’t need quilt hooks for the Trail Winder (nothing to hook to), but they’re handy for quilts with a more typical suspension.

For the weight quilt hooks are a nice extra. Not mandatory in my opinion but can be nice to have.
