VIDEO Tennessee River/Watts Bar with Haven Tent/Hammock

Took a while for me to get around to edit and post this but finally got it done.
I'll have a few more days coming up but I'm happy to relive this trip a little while making the video.

The kayak paddle hang was super fun through all sorts of weather.
I share some of my experiences with the Haven Tent which I used as both a hammock and a ground shelter on this trip.
Got a little bit of fishing in too!

    BUMP!!!

I posted the next video of the trip!
This was a great day (if a bit cold... upper 20's while kayaking) and the nice sun made up for the unfavorable wind.

The Haven did fine through the first night and drifting snow didn't bother me. With the cold weather never getting above freezing, the condensation only collected in form of frost which never thawed or dried.
I paddled underneath I-75 expressway for the 2nd time in my life, the first being when I did a through paddle of the Au Sable River in Michigan.
It was a pretty low mileage day but that was the mood I was in!

Nice job on the vittles, folks who do not paddle cannot appreciate how good - good food - soothes the soul, a river will do that to you. Something that has to be experienced.

I am way down south, about 150-miles from the Gulf Coast of Texas, so my rig is a bit different to cope with the differing aquatic conditions.

Down here it is all about the estuaries and tidal pools, with some offshore excursions thrown in from time to time.

Boy that is a sweet yak!
I see a very similar profile but I recognize how your spray skirt and battened down hatches handle saltwater. My Vapor 10's got me around on inland Michigan rivers/lakes but when I moved to Knoxville I needed to adjust to big water conditions... not just for the weather but from the "less than considerate" pleasure boaters who throw some Class V wake! lol! So the Trident 15 keeps me safe but I sometimes wish I felt stable enough to stand up once in a while.

Your rig would easily handle anything on this trip.
I am slow and editing video is not my talent. It is nice to look back on things though, and be able to share an experience.

    Next Installment Day 3

Got day three available to see now!
It was a pleasant paddle even though it was cold. Lots of beautiful cliffs and some bald eagles visited me.

I tried the Haven Tent/Hammock on the ground for the first time... *gasp!*
I definitely prefer it as a hammock but it got me through the night. The tarp it comes with will keep the dew/frost off but if there was a storm I'd want my regular options to use maybe in conjunction with the Haven's.
All in all it was a great day and I enjoyed a bacon wrapped tenderloin grilled on the beach.

    Day 4 Watts Bar

I've added the 4th (and final part of this leg) video.
I had great weather this day. I even caught a catfish as big as my leg!
I'll be back when conditions are right for the next sections, but I'll be seriously considering if I should bring the Haven again...

I hope my experiences can help if you are wondering about the Haven Tent/Hammocks.
At least the scenery is beautiful if nothing else!
