    AZ > Long Valley Campground > Oct 5-9 > 8th Annual Fall Hang 2022

Welcome to our 8th Annual Fall Hang!!!

We'll be nestled under the towering Ponderosa pines located at the Long Valley Work Center Group Campground near Clints Well up on the Mogollon Rim. The site will be available from Wednesday, October 5th at 2 PM, to Monday, October 9th at 12 PM. Whether you would like to join us for a day, a night, or the whole enchilada, we would love to see you.

The Long Valley Work Center Group Campground is located in the cool pines of the Coconino National Forest at 6950 ft and has:
    • 5+ private wooded acres = lots of trees
    • 3 pedestal grills
    • A group fire pit
    • 10 picnic tables
    • Vault toilets for up to 50 people
    • Close access to hiking trails, sightseeing, wildlife viewing, and Blue Ridge Reservoir
    • Trash service

There is still no water so make sure that you bring enough.

If you plan to attend please let us know to expect you.
If you would like to prepare a meal for breakfast or dinner, please let us know. I'll keep a track of whos preparing what for which day and which meal they chose.
The site cost $348 for the four nights. I will not be asking anyone for money but donations will be welcomed.
The hang has been family-friendly for the past seven years.

There are two main ways to enter the campsite from Highway 87:
    • Traveling from the southside (Payson) of the campground:
      1. Head north on Highway 87
      2. Turn right onto FR 147 and then immediately left onto FR 147A
      3. Follow this for a while, eventually you'll see the campground on your right

    • Traveling from the northside (Flagstaff) of the campground:
      1. Head south on Highway 87
      2. Turn left onto FR 141 (About one mile from Clints Well, which has the famous Mustang Gas Station sign.)
      3. You travel this to the fork and turn right onto FR 147A (This might say something other than FR147A, just turn right at the fork.)
      4. Follow this for a bit and the campground will be on your left

The forest roads are well graded though expect some wear/tear & weathering. The entrance to the campground was regraded last year turning that bumping ride into a smooth landing. Fear not, my mighty Prius has traversed many of these roads in worse shape, so your car no matter how small or large will easily make it.

    Historical Weather:
    Highs - 65
    Lows - 34
    For up-to-date weather goto: https://forecast.weather.gov/MapClic...&lon=-111.3178

We have happily had dogs each year at the hang, if you have questions, here's the official policy per the Coconino National Forest.

So, I've been to some of the NE Hangs, live in the PNW, but I may be on the road traveling during this one so I'm going to add it to the Calendar and will probably be there. I really want to explore AZ, NM, and Southern Utah this year.

We’ll have a few Ponderosa ready for your rig. The Southwest has a lot to offer. You can spend a lifetime and not see it all. We’re doing our best to see as much but more importantly experience as much as possible.

Happy and safe travels, see you in the fall.
