    Fabric suggestions please

I have been so overwhelmed by fabric choices, I have looked hours on end looking for comparisons or opinions never finding the answers so I’m gonna put it out in hopes the answers will find me.

The material is for hammock body will be 12’ because I am 6’7” and need to be as wide as possible accommodating weight of 280 lbs. I’m disabled with back problems and really would like to get a zero gravity effect from my new hammock.

because Jarred of simply light designs has been incredible in working with me I will buy this from him in the trail lair hammock.

My problem is not being familiar with the many fabrics out there I don’t know how they feel or stretch. I have watched countless videos but most people are not in my weight area and the reviews are for much lighter people under 200 lbs

    l have considered
    MTN XL 1.7
    HyperD XL 1.6
    Hexon Wide 1.6
    Hex 70 XL
any thoughts on the above fabrics?
Thank you in advance for taking the time to read and make suggestions

    Fabric suggestions please

I have both MTN XL 1.7 and Hexon Wide 1.6 and am happy with both for hammocks.

Is your weight similar to mine? What difference can you tell between the two materials I know MTN is rated to 400 and sold by RSBTR, the hex wide is 350 sold by Dutch other then that I’ve no idea how they feel to the touch or how they feel under weight

You could get a sample pack at Ripstop by the Roll....https://ripstopbytheroll.com/collect...custom-samples
    Might help you feel.
Ripstop has good details on their fabrics. https://ripstopbytheroll.com/collect...-ripstop-nylon
Peruse and then just get one and go. It won't be your last.
Take action and don't over-think it too much.

If you are going to buy from Jarred, I would ask him. i’m guessing he knows his stock and could, with lots of experience, advise on a fabric. To further complicate your choices (what are friends for), note that you could get a double layer in a lighter fabric.

I was lucky. When I started out, I didn’t give fabric choices a second thought. I just wanted a BlackBird, or a Snipe. or an Envoy-S …

It might help to identify your sleeping preference - soft support or firm. But then again, the support/pressure point distribution in a hammock is different from a mattress. I’m much lighter/smaller than you and my next hammocks will be Single Layer. But that’s for weight/bulk considerations. I started out with DL hammocks, thinking I might use a pad. That idea went out the window the first time I used an Under Quilt.
In order to see what few have seen, you must go where few have gone. And DO what few have done.

That's a good choice. I have a 1.7 MTN and a 2.2 Hex. Those are the only(current)materials that I would consider. I'm only 180lbs, but I like a fairly firm feel and the 1.6 or lower materials just feel like they have too much stretch for my liking
