    VIDEO: Seth Gets a Chameleon!

I finally upgraded my hammock game. No more starter hammock for me, I went with the Dutchware Chameleon. The orange color was something of an impulse choice and I regretted it at first but I've warmed up to it again. While I often thought that of the big three (hammock/tarp/insulation) the hammock is the least important I have to say I'm very impressed with the chameleon. Very comfy and I love the peak shelf that I bought as well.

I tested it with a midweek trip to some local woods. Just a short drive and short hike in meant that I could go after work. Only issue with this trip was that it got colder than expected! Since I was camping close to home I didn't pack too much but I would have been better served if I had brought my down booties. My feet got cold early in the night and never warmed up, even in my 20° top quilt. Spring chill aside, it was nice to get out for a quick trip to test out the chameleon as I won't have another chance for a little while.

    You done good, Rhody!

As you've seen already, a world of difference between the mass market cheapie and the Chameleon.

I guess orange is the new camo. I don't know what possessed me, but a few weeks back I got a Dutch bonded RL hex tarp and got it in orange.

Haha, I guess we're all on that orange kick lately!

But yes I'm definitely sold on the nicer hammock. Glad I made it through the winter with the Grand Trunk single - it kept me honest - but I'm ready to enjoy a nicer hang this summer.
