    Another DIY tensegrity hammock

I've finally finished the tensegrity frame for the hammock

I've read a few posts and copied ideas from lots of you, but I'll be honest I can't remember your names!

I've used EMT conduit for the four legs with a mix of 20mm and 25mm. 25mm in the centre for strength.

All I have to do is make or buy a decent hammock, but might have a go at rigging up some suspension so I can use an old hammock that's way too short, just to test it out.

One silly question I have is whether I'm better putting the anchor lines straight down or further out. The anchors are large orange screw anchors.

Apologies for the state of the finish, I'm happy with it, but know it's miles short of everyone else's standard. But to be fair most DIY jobs I do I'm sure everyone else wonders if I read the instructions on which end to hold the hammer or screwdriver 😁

Little concerned that the snap spring will not be strong enough. Let us know. If not, it should be an easy fix to put in a shear pin.

Thanks Jeff-oh I did wonder, but thought it worth the risk, as you say an easy enough fix if not. I'm concerned that a couple of the pins didn't come all the way out, but will have a fiddle until they do.

    Nice work.

I went the easy route and just bought the Tensa Outdoors stand. Was gonna assemble it this week but weve had hellacious wind and stormy weather.

Looks good!. I would suggest anchoring the foot end further out. I generally set the foot end anchor line at 90° from the pole. This offers better holding power, and significantly reduces the amount of line tension (which is great for softer soils). Also, I agree with Jeff-Oh, going with something like the item below would alleviate any concerns of the poles not holding up under load.

I like those, very neat, I'm tempted even if the spring pins hold.

Second to at posting this, sorry if you get it twice.

The spring clips held when I tested it with a hammock for a couple of hours. But they bent in the holes so I couldn't dismantle it easily.

Pipe tube clips now on order, thanks for the advice.
