Whooooo Buddy)))) All Secure in Sector Seven
I give up! My second one has failed. Once again pole went straight thur the pocket and destroyed the side. Lesson learned, money gone.
In one of the comments thread on the Haven Safari's Kickstarter someone also talked about using either a TQ or a sleeping bag with the Haven Safari. Derek (the founder of Haven) and a couple others mentioned using the Zenbivy sleeping system & how much they liked it. Anyone have any experience with that?

They were the xl. In my opinion the pole pockets are junk, the material is too weak and should be doubled and deeper.
I have the zenbivy light quilts and sheets in 25* and 10*. I also have the regular sized haven. The zenbivy system is a fantastic system if you’re integrating it with a pad. I don’t spend much time in the haven anymore but it did couple with the pad quite nicely. I only use them for ground sleeping on pads now and they continue to be my only choice when ground sleeping. Regular quilts FOR ME for ground use don’t even come close. I don’t use the zenbivy in hammocks or without a pad as I have others.

Just a thought and I haven't tried it in my Haven XL yet but have used a doubled up wool blanket in my ridge runner and it worked well instead of a UQ. Not a light solution but warm.
Zen Bivy offering looks nice— their sizing guide indicates that they fit up to 3” thick mattresses; probably decent for backpacking to keep weight down. I know because it’s a modular system and a small company they can’t fit a range of mattresses, but I’d probably try one out if it fit a 4” thick mattress (like the Exped MegaMat).
Speaking of that… I take it the Haven and Haven XL require the horizontal baffle mattress for structure? I’d love to throw a MegMat in there but suspect that may not work too well![]()
Yes Sir...as far as I know both Havens require a side to side air mattress not one that runs the length of the hammock. I think you would feel like a hot dog in a bun using one of those.
