    Greetings from Scandinavia

Hi all and greetings from Scandinavia! Born and raised in Norway, but living in the neighbouring Sweden.

I am a complete hammocking newbie. I have enjoyed many tent nights, but newer tried hammocking. I got my hammock last Monday and have spent 2 nights in it already. Well in my garden that is to try it out. It will definitively replace my tent for anything but the mountains.

The last two days there has been about -9 C and a slight breeze here where I live, so I was a bit concerned of keeping my warmth in the hammock using a -2 C degree sleeping bag. It wasn't a problem at all...the heat trapped in the -17C Wookie and a underquilt protector just kept me warm all night. I tried the bugnet first night and the winter top the following night. No issues with any, but noticeable warmer with the winter top. No issues with condensation either.

So I will roam around in the woods, and in here, to learn much more of hammocking from the masters themselves!

Yeah...due to being "slightly" heavier than need be, I need to be practical about things, so I got a double layered WBB XLC. Love it.

    Thanks!

Welcome, from the suburbs of New York City, USA.

You are off to a good start with 2 comfortable sub-freezing nights already!

Welcome! I am excited to someday visit that region. A number of friends who I've been building a small 10th century nordic re-creation village with have beautiful tales and photos.

Thank you. Its a nice safe place on earth for sure. As much as you want to get here I certainly want to go back west. We have been in some states in the US and there are always something new and exiting to see. For sure like it. Next trip up would be SF, Seattle, Nome I guess. Wife of mine is a relative to one of the late gold diggers up there. He even had a dredge boat, sold it around 1915 I think. Hope to get up there in the next coming years.

Thank you! I certainly will. There are a lot of woodlands and relatively stony ground around here - and where the stones are not it can be wet, so the hammock will be a preferred way for me.

As the saying sometimes goes, "West Coast, Best Coast". When you trip is planned maybe there can be a hammock hang organized near here?
