Thank you for setting it up and sharing the photos. I’d love to know more after your weekend trip in it, in combo with the weather you encounter. Again, thank you!

Ran out to get it setup between storms, I had my son help me. I don't see why AHE says it doesn't fit, doesn't seem tight nor loose.

Thank you for getting the pictures of that. It does look like a good fit to the Banyan. Did you happen to feel or notice any gaps when laying in it? I’m especially interested to learn if you noticed any gaps on the sides, while laying on your side. Thank you again for making that happen between the storms.

I did not personally get a chance to lay in it, I had my son lay in it as I took pictures and examined the whole set-up. I could not find any gaps from my perspective externally. My son told me that he did not find any cold spots while he laid in it either on his back or on his side. He doesn't like gathered end hammocks and is considering trying a bridge hammock based on his experience with the banyan while I had him in it before another storm was rolling through. I wish the instructions for setup were a bit more in-depth as to the tightening of the ridgeline. I'm still trying to figure out that portion since theres not really a way to take up the extra line that I could tell. You either have extra line on the exterior or on the interior.

I felt the same way about the ridgeline on the first setup I did. However, when I set it up again the next day, I made sure to have the suspension about chest height and I pulled the beetle buckles pretty tight. This was after watching the Schill Bros. talking about their setup on YouTube. I would say it was far closer to the suggested setup diagram and a 15 degree angle (maybe even closer to 10). After doing this, my ridgelines were just right - no extra slack in them, but enough give when torqued. It looks like from your pics at least one end is more like a traditional 30 degree angle. Maybe give it another try at a steeper angle and see how it goes. Thanks for the clarification on the fit.

I was rushing due to the storm so I didn't really take the time to get a good lay. I feel that the AHE UQ still would have held up regardless. Hopefully I can get some time in it tomorrow afternoon. I forgot to mention, the end loops are too small for the use of Dutch buckles as they won't fit through the loop which I thought was odd. You could use continuous loops or go below the intended loop but I feel the continuous loop would probably be better.

While it won't solve every problem for you- this (and another two if the first works) is a quick video about how to fit standard underquilts to my bridges. Granted- the design is very different but the point of sharing is to pass along two items that may help you.

The 'pick me up' works well with the zepplin. Not sure exactly how it would play with the double ridgeline but the concept is simple... use shock cords to give you some lift and help seal up the center of the UQ so it can wrap around the bridge.

The second are the prussic loops I put on the ridgeline at the ends about a foot in. These function similar to a 'triangle thingy' and help pick up the UQ ends a bit better.

They can be used in combinations to work things out better.

Probably the best tip for using a standard UQ though- FORGET THAT IT"S A BRIDGE!
If you don't have a ridgerunner quilt that is designed to clip to the hardware at the corners... you can't just clip a regular quilt to the corners and hope for the best.
Just set the bridge up- then attach the quilt in the same way you'd do it if it was a gathered end. Ignore the corners and just try to get the quilt to wrap the bridge itself.

If it's looking sketchy- protect your quilt from the hardware and pole tips while you work it out.

As mentioned- some folks have used the JRB quilt- but if you are putting more money into things- might as well invest it into a specific quilt.
Another thank you, Just Bill. I had the chance to set up today after watching your three part videos. I set up a separate ridgeline above the Banyan. I tried lifting the UQ suspension on either end up to that ridgeline, but it was getting dicey. Ultimately, I backed off of that idea and ended up hooking the primary and secondary suspension to the hardware on the Banyan.

I kept the pick-me-up idea and it worked wonderfully! It was a warm day, but there was a breeze. I couldn’t detect any air gaps after tensioning the pick-me-up once inside the hammock. I only had to cinch up the foot end of the UQ to eliminate a gap. I thought the pick-me-up would be a pain-in-the-rear for entry/exit, but it was no problem at all. I’m grateful for that come the first middle of the night bladder relief session!

Thank you for all of these great details and idea and helping me to fit the Zeppelin UQ to the hammock. This is a great and inexpensive solution until the day and pay comes for a new quilt.

No luck on posting the picture…

Well, I did take it out this weekend but also got a used Loco Libre 30 degree mailed the same day I left for the trip, so at the last minute, I decided to use the Loco Libre instead. It fit like a champ and I was super warm in it. Nighttime temps went down to 31 degrees and I slept through the night. I'll have to do another trip soon with the AHE UQ to compare.

HA! If it's the one that was sold on here, I was trying to snag the same one while I wait for my new one. I must have picked a popular color so a bit of a delay. I have a scout trip that I can test the AHE on coming up this weekend and provide feedback.

It may also be that George was sick recently and may still be recovering from a backlog of orders.
