So my other adult leaders flaked out (it happens), and I find myself with a backpack packed, and no plans. I’ll be out Saturday morning to join you. Looking forward to it.

Not trying to take away from anyone's fun, but I have never used a saw, ax or knife to baton on a backpacking trip.
I realize those things have their place, like getting to dry wood in the center when all is wet. but all I have ever done is gather sticks of all sizes and break them.

But I know splitting and stuff can be fun.
I too will something make and joy in it's making

NC Uwharries April Fools Hang April 1 2 3 2022

I see, said the blind man, as he picked up his hammer and saw.
PappyAmos, remind me tomorrow when I see you before we begin hiking

And have you seen YouTube video of blind Chinese vegetable and food prep chef…cutting vegetables with super sharp meat clever—at mind numbing speeds.

When I was at a truck stop in Pennsylvania, I woke up and went inside travel store for some morning coffee. There was a van load of Amish builders being driven to a job site by an Englisher. A whole crew of builders, buying their snacks and food getting ready for a day of construction. One of the Amish guys arm had been cut off half way between his elbow and now missing hand. I felt sorry for that man. Then later I felt sorry for me…because I realized the one armed man could outwork me.

    Some people know
    Some people don’t know
And some people don’t know that they don’t know

Just trying to see where I fit in

    I’ll see yinz tomorrow

Cup of coffee…who uses the word yinz and what does it mean?

Don’t know that I can split wood, but I know that “yinz” is a second-person plural pronoun (comparable to southern “y’all”), used in Western Pennsylvania and Eastern Ohio. I’d have to check the Dictionary of American Regional English for etymology.

I have cousins who say it.
