Hang Williams, my take on it is comfort has more priority than a pound. Meaning if you like the feel of a DL hammock, then that DL BBXLC is going to weigh more than any SL hammock (even with the “lightweight” DL option). Your Wooki may weight a little more than just an UQ - especially if the UQ is not full length. If you are 5’6” or shorter, that a ¾ length UQ is almost full length.

So it seems to me that you have a pretty good setup. Sure, you can loose .oz’s with a DCF tarp, but your wallet will be a lot lighter too. And DCF tarps are not all “Pro’s”, they have their “Con’s” too.

Your gear weight is already in line with several previous posts and only about a pound over those who are using more exotic fabrics and fills (950 down).

If you are a beginner, I’m sure things will change after a summer or two. But I’d suggest chasing ease of setup and comfort first, then dial down the weight if you want.

In order to see what few have seen, you must go where few have gone. And DO what few have done.

Yeah, I think the most realistic way to save ounces and maintain comfort/ease of setup is to get the elite upgrade on a Superior Gear insulated hammock and DCF tarp. I'll probably just pull those triggers eventually, but I probably should lose weight from my waist first.

That's where I'm at. I could stand to lose about 20 pounds, and if I go for 30 then that would be my entire pack weight with food and water.

I thought about getting the 20F HG Premium 950fp and the HG Winter Palace, then selling off my 20F Econ stuff and the Superfly, but for the amount of camping I do it's really not worth the cost. With the HG sale going on, I've got the cart loaded...but I just can't get past that $1,066.02 total to save 16-20 oz. Yeah, selling the other gear might get me around $400, bringing it down to $666.

    Nvm, I'm doing it...number of the beast! \m/ \m/

    WBBB w/ straps - 27 oz
    WB Minifly -14
    WB 20* TQ - 20
    WB 20* Yeti -12
    1/2 z-rest - 6
    Total 79 ounces/ 4.9 pounds

At 20*, I need the z-rest for leg insulation, and I'm super comfy. I don't know how low I could go, but I've gone down to high teens and been fine.
