It is a disgusting name and definitely not meant to be taken seriously. Hi!

Considering it wasn't called a "possum skin" until post #38, I think you're off the hook...

Out now for a quick night in the woods.

Tried it with the new Dutch tarp and it works like a charm!

I’ve only tried it out in my yard twice now due to no hiking trips for awhile, but I’m convinced this can easily retire my snakeskin, particularly given the pack volume savings from your pleated tarp fold. I just need to try it out once more on a windy night. Nice work.

When I was setting up it was a bit windy, generally about 10-15 mph, but some gusts maybe 20 or a little more. Thankfully it calmed down a lot about an hour before sunset. Didn't pose any problems for me, except when setting the windward stakes... had to wait for a little lull, but that would be the case when pitching any tarp.

I was playing with the night mode on the phone cam for this pic. I re-deployed the tarp because some small unknown stuff was falling from the trees and annoying me. Did the re-deploy at night to experience that aspect and it was no problem.

    “Extra weight of snakeskins”

The 11’ mesh tarp sleeve (I own 3 for each of my tarps) from Hammock Gear weighs 1.1oz, and its greatest utility is the ability to gradually unleash the tarp in windy conditions.

Sorry Bob, I’m not seeing myself make the change on this one. Seems like fiddling for fiddling’s sake.

Yes, to me it's really much more about the volume and not so much the 35g weight difference. The snakeskin takes upore than twice the space of the zigzag fold n roll technique.
