    Superior Gear

Anyone looking for a Superior Gear hammock without the long wait? I just noticed that Lakeshore Equipment Company a local vendor here in MN has a limited supply in stock. Just ordered one for myself this morning and they said it will ship out Monday.

Excellent find. Is the one you received treated with Insect Shield? If so, I will have to ask Danny about getting that on the summer hammock I intend to order. Unfortunately, no 45s in stock on that site.

I think "Insect Shield" just means "Bug Net"

Actually, Insect Shield is a permethrin treatment that is claimed to be permanent (70 washings).

Most people use some sort of permethrin spray or soak... google Martin's permethrin and how to mix low concentrate. Much more economical than the Sawyer spray.

They certainly could have been referring to the permethrin treatment, but it seemed ambigous to me. As is the case with many questions such as this, you can always just ask the people who actually know. So I sent an email to Lakeshore Equipment and got this reply from Jeff:
    Hello Clare,

The Insect Shield is the bug net. It is the new zip in bug net. Let me know if you have any other questions.

Ha, so it's a bug net! Good find.

Confirmed with them, its only the bug net. SG does describe their bug net as an "insect shield", but that's not what they name it. I think Lakeshore called it that not knowing any better about the bug repellent product. Too bad because I'd like a hammock treated with Insect Shield, think it would be a great selling point, especially in Minisoda.
