    Hi everybody, from California!

    Hi everybody,

Been learning so much from YouTube and books (The Ultimate Hang) and finally registered here. My back has had enough sleeping on flat surfaces, so adjustable beds and hammocks only from now on. Now if I can only convince my wife to let me hang in the house...

Rewind, a big shout out from Denton NC.
To get a crash course in hammockology, go to a local group hang. There you will see all kinds of hammocks, rigged in every imaginable way.

Although, this is not an absolute…Phantom recommends getting a hammock at least 11x5 feet or more. Maybe 11 feet by five and a half feet.

Not always, but often, comfort issues abound with shorter hammocks. Some of these hammocks are eight and a half feet to nine and a half feet long—
And labeled as ten feet long.

Extremely short hammocks cause you to lay like a banana, directly in line with hammock.
With longer hammocks, you can get a good diagonal lay, resulting in a flat lay, as flat as a recliner that goes all way back.
And longer hammocks usually have less problems with Calf Ridge Pressure CRP

    CRP happens…Lol

Ok to throw all of above out the window, as many long time hammock campers love their short, ten feet and under, hammocks.

You will learn about your insulation soon enough. Because insulation is required or you will get:
    Cold Butt Syndrome or CBS.

    Good luck!

    Welcome, Rewind!
There are quite a few of us here that agree with your take on flat surfaces and have gone to the Hammock full time. There are quite a few threads on it, if you search.

    Best to you!
There is a skinny healthy guy inside me screaming to get out, but I can usually shut him up with a dozen Boston Creams from Dunkin Donuts.

Thanks everyone for the encouragement and tips. Got myself a Hennessey and have been hanging in the backyard. Definitely found out about CBS, Phantom. So much to learn here, glad I registered already
