Only time I had one leak is when I pitched the tarp upside down in the middle of the night.

DCF tarps are bonded with DCF tape, while this being silpoly uses a glue.
I’m very curious what his glue formula is or if he applies pressure to it when bonding.
I would like to make my own bonded winter tarp, and can’t afford nine or ten yards of DCF, so silpoly it is.
Hopefully Dutch reveals his construction secrets ITT.

Until recently it was impossible to repair silpoly/silnylon without resorting to relatively slow-drying glue, so field repairs were a PITA. I learned this the hard way when I ripped my GG Murmur pack.

However, Gear Aid came out with their silnylon repair tape, so they (or 3M, or somebody) solved the adhesive conundrum for this material. And I suspect Dutch is using this new adhesive.

Ah you are right, now that you mention it I remember him saying elsewhere it was tape.

I thought it was a new innovation. It is in lightweight sil poly.

Has anyone ever had their tarp ridgeline seam leak?
Hasn’t happened to any of my 3 tarps by Dutch DCF, Hammock Gear DCF, Trailheadz sil poly.
All three vendors kept me high and dry.

Maybe this is a worthwhile new product.
Or it could be a solution looking for a problem.

Gents, I guess a lot. At the same time, I keep an open mind. Lots of smart campers here on Hammock Forums.

Further study, may be required on my part. I never know what I might learn next, as I was smartest kid in third grade…two years in a row!
Thanks! I really wasn't trying to be contrary.

I don’t know how to make that stop.

If I reply to posts, not in southeast camping, it stays in correct section.

    Phantom, not tech savvy, sorry.
Phantom Grappler, Have no worries. We are all getting older and forum tech can be daunting.
Just know you have mods here, probably older than you, haha, that can put your post in the right forum and have no issues.
You have been a loyal member for so long we got your back brother never stop posting or sharing your thoughts.
I believe we are in dutch's folder right now and I think he would agree.

No problem I was just curious. You may not have known it

Hopefully they’ll start cranking out tape for the DIY’ers for seam sealing purposes (stuff sacks and the like). Brushing on seam sealer isn’t hard, but it would be nice to slap on a piece of tape and call it a day. The repair patches are great for “patching,” but $10 for 30 square inches? Oy.

No worries, and actually my comment probably assumes too much about Dutch's product. I just knew that there is now a silpoly/nylon-compatible tape.

Looking at Dutchware website, there is a patent-pending claim which means that something about the material or the process is novel.
