    Shade of red amsteel?

So you have the option to swap out the silver amsteel on the hammock with one of a different color, and one of the options is red. It looks fairly pinkish in the pictures, but of course it's hard to tell from a picture. I'd actually love a pinkish ridgeline. Does anyone have the red amsteel, and if so, does it look clearly red, or does it look pinkish?

I've found that all of mine fades out pretty quick. My black becomes more grey, my silver starts to get whitish, etc. I would expect the red to become pink even if it doesn't start that way.
Of course I'm in the desert where color fade is a way of life and I had my gear out for over 260 days/nights last year.

I got some red Zing It. Since they are both made by Samson, I would assume they use the same process for coloring. Looks pretty red to me:

I have and use the red Amsteel, here is a pic that gives a bit of comparison to cloth .... the suspension loop is covered in RSBTR Hex70 Racing Red

Thanks, all, for the pics. Gave me the info I needed to make my decision. Now I just have to decide what type of vent to request for my overcover. Decisions, decisions...

I've used red 7/64 amsteel in the past and it fades to pink fairly quickly if you're using it frequently.

I checked my hammock CLs...I have a few that are 'red - head'. They are pretty faded, especially where they are weight bearing on the Dutch beetle buckle prongs. Kinda gives me pause: are they fading due to stretching of the amsteel, or is it just a normal occurrence of wear and tear affecting the color?

I think it's because they use a color coating that just wears off. Could also be partly due to stretch... some folks feel these are no-stretch materials but in fact they're very low stretch.

This fading seems to happen with every color I've used.

Already pinkish to start. My yellow is so faded it's almost white.

This stuff will look like the "once-red" 1990 Geo Tracker that the guy never once waxed and always parked outside.
