    Bonded-sewn hybrid seam??

Ive got a crazy question for u guys- is there a way to construct a fabric seam that is both sewn and bonded? (The idea is that in a high stress areas you would avoid elongation around the thread holes- so the adhesive and sewn seam would work together- kind of the best of both worlds?). I know thats kind of out there, but i wouldnt be surprised if some one out there has tried it!

run like crazy and climb up a tree. If the bear climbs the tree and eats you, it's a black
bear. If the bear just pushes the tree over and eats you, it's a grizzly bear : )

Jabbing a needle through adhesives leads to bad things. Look up flat felled seam. That gives a lot of strength when joining fabric. It's the "double seam" on your levis.

Sails are commonly taped together with double-sided tape and then sewn thru the tape.
    Good luck,

What did you think cuben fiber ( now called dyema (sp?) ) was first used for... They use a special double sided tape made by 3M. Link https://www.boatbuilding.xyz/sail-te...ben-fiber.html

Silicone-based tape that will stick to silnylon or similar products would be recommended over standard seamstick.

Ripstop by the Roll has instructions for using a silnylon patch that's glued on the corners of their silnylon tarp kit. You adhere the patches with SilNet (Now called "SeamGrip +SIL" in a black tube I think), and then you sew the tarp.

I used their precut silnylon kit to sew the tarp, following the instructions here: https://ripstopbytheroll.com/blogs/t...s-and-shelters

So the first thing I did was adhere the patches of silnylon with the SilNet. Then when it was fully dry I sewed the rolled hem seam and then sewed the grosgrain ribbon for tie-outs. I had NO problems or issues with sewing through the adhesive.

    I hope this info helps!
I have sewn my own: Backpack, hammock, bugnet, tarp, "Costco" top quilt with faux baffles, and Costco underquilt with "clew" suspension.
