Trip Report - Congaree National Park - Two Hammocks in One Sock

Hi all - Back in Nov 2007 I took Joker on a quick overnighter to Congaree National Park and hung both of our hammocks from the same suspension, and both hammocks were in the same Hammock Sock. It worked out well with an 8 y/o!

Also thought I was going to get attacked by a warthog b/c I heard him rooting around near our camp at 2am, but no action. LOTS of tracks on the beach near our site the next morning, though!

    Thumbs up

Great report and pictures ... always loved hikes with my son. Especially at that age.

    Nice idea.
Was that planned ahead or was it something just happening ?

Was the pictures lost during development or something ?
I mean it took 2,5 years to get them up here

    Ps, just messing with you.

Haha - no, I had started the page a long time ago but never got around to finishing it. I have more time at this job so I can start updating the page from time to time!

I had planned that one. I wanted to test staying warm w/o a tarp, and that's an easy way to do it. I think that was before I had totally ruled out using a waterproof sock in place of a tarp, so the idea would be to just hang the two straps w/ no other tie-outs and be good all night. I still think that's possible...just not my style since it doesn't give anywhere to cook.

Great trip report Jeff. Really enjoyed the pictures.
People at work need to realize we go places like that to get away.
Years ago, when pagers first came out, we were expected to carry one, but it was forgiveable if you were out of reach. I found a lot of places that couldn't get a signal.
