Thank you! I will definitely post pics once I get set up. .
Is there a spot on the forum to see people's set ups they have in their homes? You aren't the first person in seen mentioning they sleep in theirs eery night.

If I can give only one tip for hammocks: Go warmer on the bottom insulation than you think you'll need. It's much easier to regulate your temps and comfort from the top.
One word about the Haven, and I'm not sure if this still applies but it did when they kickstarted, it uses an odd sizing for the pad. Which limits choices and means you have to buy from them rather than shop around. Maybe they've changed things, I dunno.
I use both a bridge hammock and a 90º one that I designed myself, and the level of comfort is on a whole new level than when I slept in a tent.
Thanks for the tip! I'm a newbie, so I'm assuming the haven is what would be considered a bridge tent?
What would a 90° be?
Also, are there bottom insulators that are considered "better" than others?
Ps. Love the screen name.
A 90º hammocks hang perpendicular to the trees, and like the Haven you more or less need a pad to use them comfortably.
I use an Exped Synmat pad just because of the type of hammock I'm in, but since I bought it I also use it in my bridge as well; I always struggled to get my underquilt just right and the pad sorted that problem out instantly...buuut they can be bulky and heavier than quilts, so they're not for everyone.
Basically, if you plan on camping in 30º weather, get 10º insulation underneath you, whatever type of insulation you buy. Maybe not that exact number but you get the idea.
Ps. Thanks!
Awesome. Thanks for the info! I'm a cold sleeper, so I definitely want to go a bit more on the cautious side with anything dealing with warmth. Hell, I camp with a 0° kelty by the fall.
Welcome to the forum! I have recently been exploring more insulation options and have found that a "pad" that can act as an additional wind-break between the UQ and hammock really seals any small gaps that may exist.
Haven't explored bridge hammocks at all, but could see some benefits if you're talking about a more permanent installation rather than something you travel with.
Salt, thanks! My initial set ups will definitely be a more "permanent" installation. My gf and I might graduate to hammock camping one we get into it, but as if now tent hiking/camping is our main mode.
It would be nice to have a smaller set up to throw in the kayaks, so now that I'm thinking of it, I hope we enjoy it enough to go that route possibly....
Rmcrow2, did you make the stands? Very cool!
How is the chair one set up? I don't see how it stays together. Ridgeline on top holding them from expanding out, correct? But how is the bottom set up? Pretty awesome!
Yesterday was my day off and she snuck out of work at noon.We shoed back to what we think will be one of our hanging spots and had lunch. Soup and sandwiches always taste better out in the winter.
