Potential new hanger from the Adirondacks 😀

Hey all. Thanks for having me.
Excited to learn from you all. Definitely have a lot of questions.

Looking to start as a winter hanger on my own property. My gf and I are tent campers in the summer, and will be slowly building our own small (10x12) primitive cabin (log maybe?) on our land.

I preordered a Haven xl, but have since found this forum and now am undecided if that's the right route for me to go. (46 yrs old, in decent shape, 5 10', 180 lbs. Body full of metal from a motorcycle accident where I got t-boned by a 1993 international dumptruck loaded with pool sand. Not recommended!)

I'm a fairly frugal (most would say cheap lol) person, but willing to spend good $$ on this, as I've found spending a little extra on the right camping gear usually pays off long term.

    Welcome.
In April 2015 I hit a patch of gravel someone dropped on a curvy mountain road.
I got some hardware from that.
And in December, after I relearned walking, I was T boned so hard the guys tow hitches punched holes in my bikes engine block.

    Hammocks help me a lot.

    I lived yet again.
My wife took away all my motorcycles though.

Hammock sleeping really helps with damaged people.

Jump in brother. The down is warm .

I have a Haven XL and it has it's place in my hammock armada. Pad dependent of course. But that makes it easy to go to ground if needed. It is comfortable and easy to get in and out of.
Your hammock journey has begun and can be restorative to your body.

Shug, as others have said, your videos have helped to lead me here!

I was thinking the xl because I was going to load it with blankets, etc. (Original thought before I started reading this forum with info on upper and under quilts), but im wondering with being 5' 10 and 180 lbs if I should go with the regular haven. I won't be going far with it so weight isnt much of a factor for me. 5 miles at most.

Ps, it feels like I'm writing to a celebrity. Haha.

Check this blurb written by Haven designer: https://haventents.com/blogs/haven-j...en-or-haven-xl
Also boost the pad with thin foam under it or this Pad Cover: https://haventents.com/collections/s...ated-pad-cover

Welcome - hammocks are wonderful, but insulation is KEY! A cold night will not make anyone happy. I sleep on my side in a gathered end, camping and at home, and really miss my hammock when I dog/house sit and have to sleep in a bed.
Share pictures of your hanging spots, we'd love to see them.
