I'm going to try using Blake's Hitch. From what I've read it seems less likely to jam up after loading then a Prusik. If I could plan ahead for every eventuality I would have those UCR's on my spare lines, not just on my ridgeline.

For some insightful fun I've been watching How Not to Highline for knot breaking, carabineer breaking, friction hitch slipping and such. Like this one:

Here's a more secure (I guess) Larks Head - Bull Hitch. I've played with it but no actual use yet.

Addendum: reading through the list of hitches posted, without knowing what a Tensionless Hitch is, I used a variation, Lighterman’s Hitch, which you wrap the line over itself and reverse direction a couple times. I always liked that because the OCD kicks in when a line isn't centered on the tree or post. "Described by Ashley as “To hitch to a Stanchion” (Ashley ABOK #2046, p 332)." [ref https://www.animatedknots.com/lightermans-hitch-knot]

Also the Lighterman's hitch doesn't cause a pull-stick to unroll like a Tensionless-like wrap will. But now that I know about Marlin Spike Hitch that problem evaporated anyway.

I love reading about folks perusing Ashley's and trying knots. I have had mine for over 40 years, and never came across more Ashley readers than here.
