    Question Merging together UQs?

As mentioned in another thread, I've found what could be an excellent TQ/UQ solution, barring the current length. Since there isn't a ton of time before my weekend trip, I plan on spending a bit of tomorrow sewing and thought I'd see if anyone here had insights on joining the two sheathes?

Currently, I'm thinking of either adding a central zipper or series of snaps to pucker the insulation together, as is being done along the sides. I was also considering whether an elastic band along the wide end of each would suffice.

Additionally, I'm considering adding a d-ring and shock-cord to the smaller end as a way of keeping the entirety of the hammock insulated. Then trying to get a second set of zippers so the head end can have a face/vapor opening.

    Advice appreciated!

Layering UQs is pretty straightforward. Just loosen the suspension a bit on the UQ on the outside to not have as much compression of the down.

    Merging together UQs?

    Go for it!!!
Innovation is done only by the brave.

I wonder if there are any problems you have had, that might be solved by your new creation.
Did you sleep cold? Did your quilts slip out of place? Or did your quilts have an air gap and cold spots.

I’ve experienced that last one a time or two.

Like Redfish said, kam snaps might be most fun and usable. Shug’s videos are a goldmine of hammock nuggets.

    Good luck

The difficulty here is that neither is long enough on its own, so I'm trying to merge the two cones in the middle (the widest part) for full coverage, avoiding gaps.

Kam Snaps are just the sort I had in mind, thanks! I'll see what the shop has in stock tomorrow and worse case, pick some up and deal with it on Thursday.

I have it in my head that this is all a bit of test run, if it works out I'll probably rip one of the zippered sides out and connect everything more permanently, probably shortening it quite a bit too.
