New Hanger in Tumwater

Hi All!

Found the forums through Shug and am excited to be a part of the community. I discovered hammock camping through Dave Canterbury and got my first hammock last fall. I have only done one overnight so far and realized the weaknesses in my setup and have been improving this winter. Going to hike up to and overnight at Staircase early March to test the improvements.

I would really like to join a group of PNW hikers/hammockers to go on regular adventures with!

Thanks altSalt! I saw you are preping for a trip, where are you going? I am new to hiking and hammocking, but am going to be exploring the Olympics. Doing some short hikes since I am trying to work out the kinks in my set up. Would love some advice or tips you are willing to share!

Welcome to the forum! I spent the first 16 years of my life in Shelton/Olympia. Although the post office would sometimes label our address as Tumwater. I do miss the scenery up there!

I'm heading to the Olympic Hot Springs, which is a series of natural pools on a washed out stretch of highway that is apparently bikeable. It will be my first go of hammocking in the snow and I'm pretty excited (and a bit anxious...)!

In terms of tips and tricks, as with many things, despite having lots of experience, not much of it has gone towards "leveling up". Look forward to trying out some DIY upgrades now that I'm becoming a bit more engaged with this forum.
